Master yoga on the beaches of any one of Thailand's world famous islands

If you don’t have time for a meditation retreat or Buddhist temple stay then a yoga course might be just what the doctor orders for your spiritual and physical well-being. Yoga, arising in ancient India, has heavily influenced Buddhism, particularly the Theravada school that is now practiced in Thailand. As a result, yoga incorporates many of the same principles emphasized in Buddhist teachings and the same ones that are conducive to meditation. Of course, nobody needs to be told of the numerous health benefits that yoga also offers.

All of this makes learning yoga an ideal activity to complement a Thai holiday. Yoga classes are often short. The basics can be introduced and practiced in as little as one hour  meaning any type of instruction can easily be squeezed into a normal travel itinerary. Be sure to investigate beachfront yoga classes which can be found on many Thai islands. Nothing starts your day better than an hour of yoga on a postcard-perfect beach. In addition to the listings below, most of the upscale beach resorts also offer free yoga classes to paying guests. If you are not lucky enough to be one of them, don’t fret. There is still plenty of yoga instruction to be found.
