There are numerous reasons why paragliders from all over the world flock to Turkey. Prices are affordable. The weather and wind conditions are ideal. High mountains, from which you can launch off of, touch the edge of the sea enabling you to land on picturesque beaches. The views from above are mind-blowing, especially around the Oloudeniz Peninsula. And there is no shortage of paragliding outfits that will teach you the tricks of the trade at a reasonable cost. Pilot licenses (PL-A), enabling you to glide without the supervision of an instructor, can be obtained after a six-day course and examination, Advanced courses are offered to those who are already certified pilots. And many operators also offer one-day courses that allow you to learn some of the basics and gauge your level of interest before committing to a full course. Tandem paragliding (flying with a trained supervisor) is also an option for those who don’t have the time for a week-long course, yet still want to experience gliding through the sky.

You can find paragliding schools throughout Turkey but the coastal towns of Oludeniz and Kaş stand out as meccas due to both the spectacular views and the greatest concentration of experienced paragliding operators that each offers. Oludeniz, in particular, is globally renowned in the paragliding community for its views of the Oludeniz peninsula, ringed by turquoise-water and white sand beaches and surrounded by the Babadag Mountains.
